1929 Ford Model A 5 Window Pickup $10,500.

1929 Model A Ford "Extended Cab Pickup for only $10,500.00!  (or Best Offer...)  How many "extended cab" Model A Ford pickups have you seen....?

This truck is an economical "daily driver" for those that love the sound of the Model A engine.  It has the original Model A engine and it runs good, does not "smoke" or use oil.  It has many new parts and I have spent about $6000 in the past 2 years getting things fixed so that I can enjoy driving it.  [It is For Sale because I have 6 older cars and 3 late model cars and that is too many for 1 person to maintain.]  It has 5 new 21" tires on wheels painted red.

It has the original 4 cyl model A engine with 3 speed manual transmission and mechanical brakes.

When I bought the car, it already had the back cut out and the Model A pickup bed stuffed in but the work was really rough...it was obviously "a coupe with the back end cut off".  The fenders and body in general had a lot of small dents so I just used it like it was.  My children remember riding in it when they were small and they are all in their 40s now.
I finally got tired of it looking it so rough and it was hard to start and then doubtful that it would stay running...I had all of that fixed.  Today it is a decent looking little truck and very dependable running.  All lights work, mechanical brakes stop it (sort of...as good as they ever did) and there is storage behind the seat.

In 2006 I had a lot of improvements made:

  • 12v electrical system installed for lights, alternator, brake lights and turn signals.
  • Cab body finished off with steel so that it looks like a 5 window pickup.
  • Straightened up the front fenders.
  • Shortened the pickup bed and fitted it to the rear fenders and the cab.
  • Gas tank removed and cleaned by the pros at Renuzit.
  • New leakless water pump.
  • New safety glass windows with new guides installed in doors.
  • Rich Cummings of Coldwater, Michigan did the work and I am very happy with it. He is a full time Car Customizer and has built many vehicles.

1929 Ford Left side of hood1929 Engine left side
Hood is in good shape and left side of engine shows 12v Alternator and "Leakless" Water pump.  Voltage drop is visible also for the ignition.  Starter is stock so when starting with 12v it just spins the engine faster.

1929 Hood right side1929 engine right side
Right side of hood is good and right side of engine shows stock exhaust, carburator, and settling bowl.  The gas line is neoprene...I could not get the new steel line to quit leaking and so I put this one back on and it has been on this car for years.  I have not had to add any antifreeze or water this year and the car runs cool.

1929 Ford clearance between bed and cab1929 fuses for lights
The clearance between the cab and the bed of the truck is about 1".  The fuses for the lights and the flasher unit for the turn signals is inside the cab on the left side just above the steering column.  You can see some of the bolts and clamps that hold the gas tank.  The gas tank was removed and sent to Renuzit in Battle Creek, so now we have no fuel problems.

Sealed beam headlights1929 Rear
The front view shows the sealed beam headlights (12v) with the turn signals under them.  I just bought a new chrome shell for the radiator and it goes with the car.  I am looking for good chrome or stainless steel bumpers but haven't found any yet.
The rear view shows the "Ford" outlined in red and the taillights that are also the brake lights and turn signals. The bumpers front and rear need to be removed and rechromed.  (ignor the tires...these photos were taken with the old tires before I put on the new 21" wheels and tires).

Since then......I have

  • Painted the body with Black Rustoleum "satin" paint with a brush.
  • Painted the wheels with Red glossy rustoleum paint.
  • Installed a new point holder in the ignition and it runs much more evenly.
  • Installed a better looking dashplate with a Speedo and ammeter, but...found out that I have no speedo drive cable, just the outer housing.
  • Bought a new settling bowl and installed it.
  • Bought and installed 5 new 21" tires on original type 21" Ford wheels.

If someone wants to buy it now, I think it is worth the $9,500 that I am asking...make a real serious offer if you think it is worth less.  I want to sell it.

It runs good and I drive it to Marshall and Coldwater regularly.  It does not smoke or drip oil excessively and it does not seem to use any oil.  I think there is a small drip from the rear main but I haven't even noticed a spot in my driveway this Summer.
I would not hesitate to take some "bailing wire, a pair of pliers and a straight screwdriver and drive it to California!  Would eventually make it too...

My next project is to cover the top with vinyl (as was done on many years ago) and install a black vinyl interior but ....that will increase the price.  So buy it now and do what you want.  I can work on my 1935 Ford or 1941 Ford...they need it.  I did spend $350 and had the seat upholstered with 3" pleats...it looks good and is more comfortable.

1929 Ford Right RearThese Model As are very limited in leg room and the seats are fixed.  I am used to it and like it as is but someone could remove the package tray and install an adjustable seat or seats.  What someone does with it after they buy it is their business.  Eventually the right person will come along.  It is an unusual looking Model A and gets lots of attention.
1929 Ford Left RearEven outlined the "Ford" logo on the tailgate in red.  People gotta know what they are following.  I drive it around the local area.

Buy it for your business and put your company name on the doors...it could be a great attention getter for a Hardware Store or other business!
